Obituary:
Harvey C. Altes, 87, quietly passed away on March 9, 2015 in Daytona Beach,
Florida. He was born on March 3, 1928, and served in the U.S. Army during the
occupation of Japan. He married Joan Marie Kinney, and moved to Daytona
Beach in 1951. For many years, Harvey was the Constable on the beachside in
Volusia County, as well as a Special Investigator for the State Attorney's
office and an investigator for Daytona Beach Shores. There are countless
colorful stories about his law enforcement career here in Daytona back in the
1960's. Altes also founded a private investigation and auto recovery agency,
Falcon International, which has operated here for 60 years. His investigation
clients included many area attorneys, banks and businesses, as well as CBS
Television's "48 Hours". He
also operated a trade association, Time Finance Adjusters, co-authored a book
("Manhunt"), presented a series of seminars by the same name. |

Memorandum:
Few people have impacted the repossession industry more than Harvey Altes. He
was always thinking of innovative ways to further the success he enjoyed in
this industry...whether it was through co-operative efforts like Bankservice,
or founding an early form of "forwarding company" (one that
benefitted the TFA membership), Harvey was continually coming up with ideas.
Both he and his wife (my mother) Joan Altes were fully committed to their TFA
"family", and their greatest friends were others in the business.
Contrary to his public persona, Harvey Altes was a kind, generous, thoughtful
individual, who is and will be greatly missed.
